Exergy and Geothermal Engineering Partner to Construct UK’s Inaugural Deep Geothermal Power Plant

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Exergy, a leading renewable energy company, has joined forces with Geothermal Engineering Ltd. (GEL) to embark on the construction of the United Kingdom’s first-ever deep geothermal power plant. The contract marks a momentous step towards harnessing the Earth’s natural heat for clean and sustainable energy production.

The innovative project will be situated in Cornwall, a region well-known for its geothermal potential. It is set to capitalize on the Earth’s underground reservoirs of hot water, enabling the generation of electricity through a geothermal binary power plant.

Unlike traditional geothermal projects that tap into shallow sources, this pioneering initiative will access geothermal resources from depths of more than 4 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.
