We keep this short because we collect very little.
The short version
- We do not set cookies.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
- We have no accounts, comment forms or newsletter sign-ups.
What is processed when you visit
Our web server. Like any website, our server receives your IP address, the page you requested, your browser’s user-agent and the referring page. These are written to server logs, which we use only for security and troubleshooting and keep for a limited period before they are deleted.
Cloudflare. Our site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes the same request data to deliver pages and protect the site against attacks. Cloudflare acts as our service provider; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
Live grid data. Our live electricity panels ask the Carbon Intensity API (run by the National Energy System Operator) for the latest figures directly from your browser. That means the API’s servers receive your IP address and browser details when you view a page with live data. No cookies or personal data are sent with the request.
Search. The site search runs entirely in your browser; your search terms are not sent to us or anyone else.
Fonts and images are hosted on our own server, so loading them does not involve third parties.
If you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and, if relevant, to correct the article you wrote about. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. To make a request, contact us.
Changes
If anything here changes, for example if we ever add analytics, we will update this page first and change the date at the top.
